You’re probably familiar with the gender pay gap.
The one in which women earn 77.9 cents for every dollar earned by men in equivalent jobs?
UGH.
But did you know that may not be the BIGGEST gender gap we’re dealing with?
Sadly, the gender INVESTMENT gap is even wider.
Here’s what a recent survey by BlackRock found:
“Of all the assets women control—both inside and outside their portfolios—they keep a full 71% in cash, whereas men hold 60%.
Cash may feel like it has zero risk, but it also has zero potential to grow as stocks do over time.
And even with low inflation, the purchasing power of that cash will decline over time.
So the price of certainty you get with cash is high.”
For a women making $100K a year, that gap could represent an opportunity cost of more than a million dollars during her working life – the years between the ages of 30 and 65.
A MILLION DOLLARS.
Do you want to get that million dollars back in your pocket instead of letting fear of investing keep it away from you?
I mean of COURSE you do.
Which is why you definitely want to know Sallie Krawcheck.
Sallie Krawcheck
Sallie is the founder and CEO of Ellevest. Her professional mission is:
To help women reach their financial and professional goals (or, put more bluntly, to get more money into the hands of women), thus enabling them to live better lives and unleashing a positive ripple effect for our families, our communities and our economy.
Before launching Ellevest, Sallie built a successful career on Wall Street.
She was the CEO of Merrill Lynch, Smith Barney, US Trust, the Citi Private Bank, and Sanford C. Bernstein.
She was also Chief Financial Officer for Citigroup.
So, you know, she’s not a big deal at all. 😉
It’s been my experience from being around them that when brilliant women like Sallie get SERIOUS about their MISSION and PURPOSE, they’re unstoppable.
I especially love Sallie because she is unapologetic having been very publicly FIRED from Citi – and she acknowledges the role that event played in clearing a path for her to discover her purpose.
As a direct result of that, she’s doing THIS work now, and we are all better served as investors because of it.
Here’s what Sallie’s team at Ellevest does:
They also provide a ton of free educational content at

So listen to me, if you’re still confused about investing, it’s time to get in the game. And Ellevest is perfectly positioned to help you do just that.
Tomorrow, on the podcast, I’m going to talk more about investing.
Because it’s not just the stock market that scares women out of their minds…too often any kind of investment in ourselves does, too.
And that fear has a massive long term cost.
So catch the podcast this week and give some real thought to your own patterns around investing.
If those patterns need to be shifted to get you where you want to go, we should talk.
My team and I are always happy to connect with women who are ready to unleash their full potential! Book your call here.
